What is a Venturing Sea Scout Officers Association?

A Venturing Sea Scouting Officers Association (VSSOA) is a team of officers (youth) who hold meetings, organize events, and support the crews and ships of the Greater Alabama Council.

Why have a VSSOA?

  • Helps units connect and collaborate

  • Provides leadership opportunities for youth

  • Plans fun, meaningful, and adventurous events

  • Supports Venturing/Sea Scouting advancement (ALPS model)

  • Keeps the Venturing/Sea Scouting spirit alive across units

2025-2026 VSSOA Officer Elections

Nov 9th @ 7:00 PM CST via Zoom

Ready to take your Venturing or Sea Scout leadership to the next level? Be a VSSOA Officer! Any Venturer or Sea Scout under 21 years of age, who will still be under 21 years of age at the end of the term (May 31, 2026) and is registered in a Crew or Ship is eligible to run for a VSSOA Officer position. Elections will be held on November 9th at 7:00 PM CST. You will receive the Zoom link prior to the meeting.

The VSSOA Officer positions are as follows:

  • President

  • Vice President of Program

  • Vice President of Communications

Only the President will be elected during the Zoom meeting on the 9th. Once elected, the President will appoint the Vice Presidents. Terms will be 7 months (Nov 9th - May 31st). All Venturers or Sea Scouts who wish to run for Office must first be approved by the VSSOA Steering Committee. All applicants will be informed of their eligibility to run on or before November 9th.
